Fiscal Year 2011-2012
No person in the United States shall, on the ground of race, color, or national origin be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.
Federal financial assistance includes grants, training, use of equipment, donations of surplus property, and other assistance.
Since the County receives federal financial assistance in to the General Fund, all general fund departments are required to comply with Title VI.
Ensures all citizens have the same access to all services and benefits
Develops consistent standards and prerequisites for provided services.
Requires information and services to be provided in languages other than English for non English speaking individuals.
Encourages minorities to participate as members of planning or advisory bodies for programs receiving federal funds
Requires County to notify the respective population about applicable programs
Prohibits locating facilities in any way that would limit access to a Federally funded service or benefit
The federal government and those receiving assistance from the federal government must take reasonable steps to ensure that LEP persons have meaningful access to the programs, services, and information those entities provide.
Persons who do not speak English as their primary language and who have a limited ability to read, speak, write, or understand English can be LEP.
The County is required to take reasonable steps to ensure meaningful access to their programs and activities by LEP persons.
