This course aims to reinforce skills introduced in Accounting 350, research accounting issues, think critically about accounting alternatives, and apply insight gained to practical problems. Students will master conceptual and technical aspects of GAAP and practice problem-solving skills.

COURSE - OBJECTIVE: Reinforce skills introduced in 350 Research accounting issues. Think critically about accounting alternatives Apply insight gained to practical problems Master conceptual and technical aspects of GAAP. Practice problem solving skills. Structured Unstructured Reinforce and Practice communication skills taught in Acct. 351com. 11/16/2019

  5. Methods of Instruction  Active Learning  Preparedness is key  E.g., Double entry journals  WebCT quizzes  Approaches in class  Students present homework (cases)  Brief lecture followed by teams working related problem  Discussion of news topics, quizzes, etc.  I will call on you (using a random number approach!)  Warning: This class is very time intensive!! Expect to spend about 12 hours out of class preparing each week. 11/16/2019

  15. Important Department Policy Reminder I A grade of “C” or higher in each upper division business and accounting course is required to graduate with a BS in Accountancy. 11/16/2019

  16. Department Policy Reminder II If you earn less than a “C”, you may repeat the course only once and only if a seat is available. There is no guarantee that a student will be able to repeat a class in the semester desired. State and local fire codes prevent classes from exceeding room capacity. You must have an assigned seat with desk space (i.e., no students may sit on the floor or in an empty chair) 11/16/2019

  17. Important College Policy Reminder The College is strictly enforcing the following requirement: No business, accounting, or IS major may be enrolled in a 400-level course without having first passed BUS 301 or BUS 302/302L.
