  1. IRISH MUSIC Irish music is a folk music which has remained vibrant throughout the 20th century, when many other traditional forms worldwide lost popularity to pop music. In spite of emigration and a well-developed connection to music influences from Britain and the United States, Irish music has kept many of its traditional aspects; indeed, it has itself influenced many forms of music, such as country and roots music in the USA, which in turn have greatly influenced rock music in the 20th century.

  2. INSTRUMENTS • The most popular instruments used in Irish music are; Fiddle, Flute, Whistle, Uilleann pipes, Harp, Accordion, Concertina, Banjo, Guitar, Bouzouki, Mandolin, Bodhran and the Harmonica

  3. MUSIC FOR DANCING • Ireland’s most famous dancing is river dance. The music that is used for this is sang by a choir called Anuna.

  4. Pub Sessions • Pub sessions are now the home of most types of traditional Irish music. This takes place in small rural pubs usually in the West of Ireland. This is when a local traditional Irish band go in to a local pub and play traditional Irish music to the people in the pub. Such events can be seen on tg4 .
