  1. Trending Styles for Boleros and Shrugs

  2. A bolero or a shrug is typically a garment that is worn over another dress or an outfit. Both are available in various styles and designs and are good for any occasion, be it a casual get-together with friends or a formal evening fine-dining experience.

  3. Bolero jackets and shrugsare similar in many aspects but there is one difference – it is the length. Bolero jackets are short, have a good fit, and stop at the waist. Shrugs have limitless possibilities. They can be long and flowing or cropped around the waist.

  4. Generally, shrugs are made of light material with lots of lace but there are the knitted ones that are also quite wispy and can be worn comfortably over any dress. Bolero jackets on the other hand are more formal and made of heavier materials such as brocade or velvet. A high-end bolero jacket can set you back by a few hundred dollars while shrugs are more affordable and reasonably priced.

  5. Designer bolero jackets are available in fine embroidery all over or are embellished with beads and fine needlework. Hence among bolero jackets and shrugs,it is the former which is the more preferred option for formal events. Shrugs are more of a fun garment but add a lot of value to any wardrobe.  An advantage of boleros and jackets is that they don many hats. The light ones can be worn in summer while the wool or thick fabrics go a long way to cut out the chill in winters. With a knitted shrug draped casually over the shoulders or a bolero jacket, you can step out in style on cold evenings without compromising on the glam quotient.

  6. Both bolero jackets and shrugsgo a long way to enhance the value of any wardrobe. With several shrugs and bolero jackets in your closet, you can wear the same dress or an outfit multiple times but change the appearance each time by wearing a different bolero or a shrug. Once you have a few of them in neutral colors or designs, you can match almost any dress with any of them.  Bolero jackets and shrugs are a great boon for heavier women as they help to cover areas with accumulated fat. These are generally around the mid-riff or the upper arms. With a shrug or jacket, these areas will be hidden from view. You can also extend your wardrobe by creatively matching an outfit with a shrug or a bolero. Wear sleeveless dresses that you would otherwise not want to wear since it exposes the arms with a sleeved shrug and your goal of wearing your favorite sleeveless dress can be fulfilled.

  7. While buying a bolero jacket or shrug, wear the dress you want to match it with to the store. It will help you arrive at the right decision as you can see whether the two complement each other.
