  3. White House Office • “Nerve center” of the EOP • Key personal & political staff • Includes: Chief of staff, counsel, press secretary, physician • About 400 men/women

  4. National Security Council • Advises the President on national security • Includes the V.P., sec of state & defense, CIA director & chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff

  5. Office of Management and Budget • Very powerful office • Prepares the annual federal budget • Manages the executive branch • Headed by a director, appointed by the President

  6. Office of National Drug Contol Policy • Coordinates more than 50 federal agencies involved in the war on drugs • Headed by the “drug czar”

  7. Council of Economic Advisers • Consists of 3 top economists, appointed by the Pres • Chief source of info & advice on the economy
