Operation Veteran Support Who We Are! • A committee of Rotarians from a number of Clubs formed to raise their communities’ awareness of the urgent need for Veterans’ support. • A network of OVS Coordinators (one or more per club), to assist their club to plan projects, present programs and create Veterans’ support amongst Rotarians, friends and within their respective community. • Purpose is to create a resource to share information about options to which Rotarians and their friends can volunteer time and/or donate money.   4. Mission Statement Recruit, support and train OVS coordinator(s) that will be a resource for their Rotary clubs and communities to help them find ways to support veterans and their families. Rotary District 5810 Operation Veteran Support

Operation Veteran Support Objectives • Raise awareness of opportunities available for Rotary clubs to support our veterans and their families • Encourage Rotary clubs to lead their communities in the effort to support our veterans and their families • Perpetuate OVS by sharing success stories and showing our veterans that their sacrifices will never be forgotten Rotary District 5810 Operation Veteran Support

Operation Veteran Support OVS Club Coordinator • Who can do it? • Be very serious about Veteran’s Support • Help plan and promote club projects, programs and events • Have other contacts outside Rotary: corporate, seniors, scouts, high school groups, etc. • Be able to follow up, provide feedback, ideas, stories, etc. Rotary District 5810 Operation Veteran Support

  9. Worthy Charity Options • Numerous charities were evaluated by the committee. The evaluation criterion were: • Maximum amount of contributions for program activities. • Charity should have a local identity. • Program activities must make a significant positive impact for Veterans and their families. • Aligned with Rotary “4 Way Test”.   16. DFW National Cemetery The Public Information Center is staffed and operated by volunteers. Persons on duty there meet and greet visitors, provide assistance to Funeral Directors, next of kin and, if appropriate, escort next of kin to committal shelters and/or visitors to gravesites.
