How Web2.0 Changes Projects

- More stakeholders

- Mashups introduce risks

- Programmers want to write the latest stuff

- Execs see new biz models and want some

- Blogs/Wikis for project communication

- IT is losing control

slide21

Dangers of Web2.0

Employees have access to Twitter, Facebook, etc. & can

potentially damage your company by:

- Revealing confidential information (Congressman Peter

Hoekstra tweeted his arrival in Baghdad during a secret

Congressional delegation trip to Iraq.)

- Acting inappropriately (e.g. ranting, public fights with

others, “astroturfing,” the Domino's disaster)

IBM & others have instituted social media policies to prevent this.

slide22

Web3.0: A Mobile Era

Flash, cloud computing & other technology has come

to the smartphone

Specific apps for IT provide:

- Analytics

- Network tests

- Remote workstation access

- Threat-monitoring

- Bandwidth evaluation
