Background • The competencies of the workers in the explosives sector is not regulated in detail • No measurable qualifications which are linked to competences exists in Europe for workers in the explosive sector • The only training given to explosives workers is in-house training which is not transferable between companies and countries; this training has no status or recognition • Safety is essential • Companies work trans-national • EUExcert resulted in examples of competences

  3. Aims • Increase the number of European partners and participating countries – by disseminating and spreading knowledge about the competence framework to the explosive sector in Europe • Form a new and improved network • Increase the skills, employability and mobilityof workers • Produce a basic glossary of terms for the European explosive sector • Develop trans-national educational material • Setup a regulatory body called a ‘Foundation’ • Validate the UK competencies for workers

  11. European Explosives Qualification framework (WP 5) • A framework showing the skills and competencies required to sustain the explosives business in Europe • The framework will include skills, knowledge and activities for workers • Different teaching and education techniques

Set up a foundation (WP 6) • Promote explosives competence • Raise explosives knowledge levels • Facilitate access to the European Explosives Sector • Facilitate job mobility • Facilitate re-training • Improve productivity and safety • Create and enhance European trans national cooperation in Explosives education

  13. Build a sustainable network of stakeholders (WP 7) • A European network for teaching and education • Harmonise the practise in the explosives sector • A forum for education methods • Encourage trans national cooperation

  14. Implementation of Flexible Media (WP 8) • Implement different methods for a European trans national distance education system • Internet and videoconferences • Test and evaluate ideas of a modular built education programme
