Methodist Youth Fellowship

19 Jan 2014

Peace on the outside comes from

knowing God on the inside.

Plants are rooted in soil.

We are to be rooted in Jesus.

We are rooted

in order to reach out.

rooted in him
Rooted in Him
  • Let your roots grow in Him and let your lives be built on Him. Colossians 2:7
    • Why do you think we need to be rooted in Jesus and build our lives on Him?
    • What are the consequences of not being rooted in Him?
    • How do we let our roots grow in Him?
  • Write your answers on post-it notes and paste it on the white board.

  • Read John 6:63: The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life.
    • What is the difference between the Bible

and other books?

The Bible is the only book whose author

is always present when one reads it.

How to be rooted?
  • Psalm 1
  • Reflect on Psalm 1:2.

Why do you think he meditates on the law of the Lord day and night?

How to be rooted?
  • Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? John 14:9
  • Reflect on the first part of John 14:9(italics and in bold fonts)
    • Have you been with a friend for very long yet have not known this friend of yours?
    • How to get to know this friend?
    • Do you know Jesus? Is Jesus our friend? How do we know? (Hymn – What a friend we have in Jesus, John 15:15, any other verses that you could recall?)
