  3. Facts About Tires • Vehicle manufacturers usually install LRR tires on new vehicles to help meet CAFÉ standards more easily • Most replacement tires are not LRR • ~237 million replacements sold each year • None are labeled with any indication of their rolling resistance coefficients

  4. Benefits • A 10% decrease in Crr can decrease fuel consumption by 1-2% • California Energy Commission estimates total gasoline use can be reduced 1.5-4.5% if all tires in use were LRR • This can be safely implemented with current technology
