Background House Bill 1363 - Adopted 2006 Disposition of County Property for Affordable Housing • Each County must prepare an inventory list of County-owned properties appropriate for affordable housing • Counties must review the inventory list at apublic hearing • Adopt a resolution that includes the inventory list • July 1, 2007 and every three years thereafter
Background • The Act provides the following alternatives for properties identified as appropriate for Affordable Housing: • Sold and proceeds used to purchase land • Sold with restrictions that require development • Donated to a non-profit housing organization for construction
Background • Currently the Housing Division partners with local non-profit entities to transfer county-owned properties for affordable housing • In 1998, the Board approved Resolution No. 98-M-01 authorizing conveyance of County-owned land to non-profit entities for affordable housing • To date 11 properties have been transferred
Background • In compliance with the Act, the Real Estate Management Division and the Housing & Community Development Division have prepared: • Inventory list for consideration by the Board of County Commissioners • Once adopted will inform local non-profit housing organizations
