  4. What is PARCC? PARCC stands for Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers Statewide assessment of attainment of state standards Replaces NJASK for ELA and Math

  5. Grades 3-8 • Taken on the Computer • Two phases; • Performance-Based Assessment (PBA) in March • End –Of-Year (EOY)in April/May

  6. PARCC Consortium in 2015 • Administering the test in 12 member states • 5 million students • Nearly 15% of students in grades 3-11 nationally • About 3 in 4 will take the tests on computer NY MA RI OH NJ IL CO MD DC TN NM AR MS LA Governing Board States

Why a New Test? • To assess new standards • NJASK was not designed to be an instructional tool, designed for accountability • Provide more detailed information regarding student skill levels and growth for parents and teachers • The next evolution of testing • Parents and Schools Data Hungry • Targeted

  8. PARCC Goals … Report results worth using Valid Reliable Timely Actionable Develop tests worth taking Texts worth reading Essays worth writing Problems worth solving Accessible to all students

Priority Purposes • Determine whether students are college- and career-ready or “on track” • Provide tools to assess student learning and support instruction during the school year • Report comparable results across schools, districts and member states • Generate data, including growth metrics, for accountability uses • Use technology toincrease student access and engagement, and create efficiencies
