The total length of water supply networks under the management service companies public water supply is about 4700 km.Almost half of these are managed by a single operator - JSC "Apa - Canal Chisinau", which has a sales volume of 44 million m3 / year, which constitute over 65% of the national total. Loss of water differs from one operator to another and varies from 6% to 60% of the delivered water, averaging 33%.

6. Law no. 303of 13.12.2013public service of water supply and sanitation Effective Date: 09.14.2014 Art. 7, par. (1) Regulating the public service of water supply and sanitation provided by the National Agency for Energy Regulation (Agency). Art. 7, par. (2) Agency has the following tasks:(i) develop and approve the Regulation on the establishment and approval with the purpose of determining tariffs, technological consumption and water losses in public water supply systems.

7. Currently public consultations have been initiated on the draft Regulation on establishment and approval for determining tariffs, technological consumption and water losses in the public water supplysystems. This Regulation aims to establish a single calculation and approval system of technological consumption and water losses in public water supply systems and sanitation at different stages of the technological process (capture, treatment, transportation and distribution, as well as in system public sewer), which will be taken into account in determining tariffs for public water supply, sewerage and wastewater treatment.
