  3. LEGAL FRAMEWORK In the end of 1998 Decisions made: • BR for statistical purposes in the Central Bureau of Statistic • Based on Administrative tax sources and other business sources • Internal BR- not accessible to public • International recommendations -Eurostat

  4. PLANING & ESTABLISHMENT In 2000 planning preparations: • Analyzing and planning a database structure • Coordinating the economic activity codes to ISIC rev 3 • Activity classification base for all businesses from different sources: • census of all employers • surveys • other frames

  5. Main purposes and aims • Main available source for integrated business information • Coordination of statistical business surveys • Producing business demography

  6. BUSINESS REGISTERCBS-ISRAEL In 2003 the business register has been launched • 500,000 business records - then • 800,000 business records -now • 430,000 active businesses in 2007

Main sources VAT source 470,000 businesses • business id (=vat id=entity id in most cases) • monthly revenue and expenditure • activity type and dates of activity • economic activity description • names of the business • addresses of the business • Relations file- vat reporting units(vat-partnerships)

Main sources Updating data • VAT- all active businesses data-Monthly updated -latest 12 months ( 1.5 month lag) • VAT -Relations file- (vat-partnerships)-yearly • National Security- all active employers data twice a year-latest 25 months ( 1.5 month lag) • NS-all additions of new employers –bi-monthly
