  2. Multiple Intelligences HOW ARE YOU SMART?

  3. What are Multiple Intelligences? Multiple intelligences (MI) were developed by an American Developmental Psychologist named Howard Gardner In 1983. They utilize eight different types of intelligence present in most people.

  4. VISUAL/SPATIAL – Picture Smart • You may be picture smart. You will be good at art and also good at other activities where you look at pictures like map reading, finding your way out of mazes and graphs. This is sometimes called being Visual/Spatial smart. Making charts and lists Arranging your room

  5. VERBAL/LINGUISTIC Word Smart • You may be word smart. You will enjoy reading, writing and talking about things. This intelligence was always valued in the traditional classroom and in traditional assessments of intelligence and achievement. Reading books Listening to lectures

  6. LOGICAL – Number Smart • You may be number smart. You will be good at mathematics and other number activities; you are also good at solving problems. Sudoku Jeopardy

  7. BODILY/KINAESTHETIC • You may be body smart. You will enjoy sports and are good at swimming, athletics, gymnastics and other sports. Cooking Art

  8. MUSICAL/RHYTHMIC • You may be music smart. You will enjoy music and can recognize and identify sounds, and timbre, or the quality of a tone. Listening to music Dancing

  9. INTRAPERSONAL • learning through feelings, values and attitudes. This is a decidedly affective component of learning through which students place value on what they learn and take ownership for their learning. Self Talk Values

  10. INTERPERSONAL- People Smart • You may be people smart. You will like to mix with other people and you will belong to lots of clubs. You like team games and are good at sharing. Clubs & Sports Hanging with your friends

  11. NATURALIST- Nature Smart • You may be nature smart. You will like the world of plants and animals and enjoy learning about them. Gardening Lifecycle

  12. Assignment In your notebook, predict the order of you multiple Intelligence styles in order of strongest to weakest. After taking the test in the computer lab, compare/contrast your results. Were you accurate? How? Were you totally incorrect? Explain why you were able to either predict accurately your results, or why you did not. Would your friends and family agree with the results of the test?
