GUIDE • Step On Guide in D.C. • Guide Service of Washington Inc. has provided quality Washington, DC tours to groups, families, and individuals since 1964.  Licensed by the District of Columbia, their tour guides lead groups throughout the nation’s capital both day and night, rain or shine. The guides are known as umbrella leaders.  For years they have carried umbrellas to help their groups identify them.  With numerous sites in DC to visit, a tour guide can provide you with a knowledgeable and memorable experience.  • Their dedication to tourism is evident through our memberships in:• American Bus Association • Destination DC • National Tour Association • Student & Youth Travel Association

  4. TRAVEL DIRECTOR • One of the advantages of traveling with Grueninger Travel Group is the knowledge and expertise offered by our professional travel directors who accompany you. Travel directors handle all logistics of the trip and act as your liaison with the motorcoach driver, hotel, step-on tour guide,, hotels, and local destinations. • They make extensive preparations before each trip, confirming arrangements withon-site vendors to ensure that your trip will run smoothly. Should there be an emergency, your travel director will be available to help. • Travel directors all have college degrees and are hired based on their travel experience, people skills, ability to troubleshoot, and attention to detail. Because they travel with groups all over the world, they depend upon local guides to offer in depth expertise on each destination.

Vernon Estate and Gardens • • Lunch at Mount Vernon • • Arlington National Cemetery, with guides WREATH-LAYING CEREMONY INCLUDED • • United States Marine Corp War Memorial • • The United States Air Force Memorial • • Dinner at Pentagon City Food Court with shopping time • • The Pentagon Memorial • • Hotel check - in - Hilton, Springfield, VA

  17. Ford’s Theater • Originally a church in 1833 • Converted to theater in 1861 • This location is historically significant because it was the where President Lincoln was assassinated.

  18. Peterson House • Located directly across the street from Ford’s Theater. • President Lincoln was taken across the street to this home after he was shot by John Wilkes Booth. • Booth stayed in the same room just a few weeks earlier.

  34. DAY 5, Thursday, April 30 • Return to the school approximately 8:00 A.M.

What is Included? • Roundtrip deluxe motor coach transportation from Kokomo, IN, to Washington, D.C. and for all touring • Two (2) night hotel accommodations at a full-service hotel in a Washington, D.C. suburb • All activity entrance fees • Guide gratuities • Local step-on guides for duration of trip in Washington, D.C. • All meals beginning with breakfast on Day Two and ending with dinner on Day Four will be a combination of fast food, buffets, cash allotments, pre-selected and plated meals per the itinerary • Itineraries, Luggage Tags, Lanyards for name tags, T-shirts, and Tote bags for all tour participants • Onsite services of a Grueninger Travel Group tour director • Private security guards hired for group in hotel • Post-departure trip insurance • All driver gratuities • All taxes and tips on included items, no hidden costs • Not Included? • Items of personal nature, such as souvenirs, etc. • Any not listed as “included”

  36. How much? STUDENT $652 per student / quad occupancy ADULT $752 per adult / double occupancy $936 per adult / single occupancy Based on a minimum of a 50 traveling per 56-passenger motorcoach. (100 student minimum) All prices are based on current transportation fuel charges and taxes/fees.  Any changes to fuel or taxes/fees which are beyond our control will be passed on.

  37. Payment Dates • $150 per person due on September 15, 2019 • $150 per person due on November 15, 2019 • $150 per person due by January 15, 2020 • Trip balance due by March 1, 2020

  38. Chaperones • All chaperones that are interested in going must have a background check on file with Northwestern School Corporation before September 15, 2019 to be considered. • Only parents and legal guardians are allowed to attend as chaperones. • Chaperone space MAY BE LIMITED. • When chaperones register, your registration will be held in a queue until the initial registration deadline.

  39. After September 15, we will count the number of students we have going on the trip. • The leftover spots on the buses will then be given to the interested parent chaperones. • In the past, every chaperone that has signed up to go has been able to go on the trip. • However, if there are more chaperones signed up to go than there are available spots, the 8th grade team will have a lottery to draw names for chaperones. • If we have to hold a lottery, and your name is not selected, your registration will be canceled and your money credited. • After you find out if you have been selected, Grueninger will then process your registration.
