Geography and Climate. • A gulf stream that produces wet and dry seasons. • In the winter the temp. rarely drops below freezing. • Weather changes are frequent. • Essential question answer- helps with farming because farmers don’t have to water that much. Also it is not that cold so people do not have to by big puffy coats.

  3. Economic Data • They are a developed country. • London is one of the most important financial centers of the world. • There is a fairly large gap between the middle and working class. • Despite having only 1 percent of the world’s population; Britain is the fourth largest trading nation in the world. • Machinery and transport, manufactures and chemicals are among Britain’s largest export earners. • Essential question answer- in recent years the UK standard of living has fallen two places to sixth highest in Europe. Rising prices have put the squeeze on many households in the UK causing the impact on their standard of living.

  4. Culture • There are different religions practiced in the United Kingdom. In England, the national religion is Anglican. Other religions practiced include 44% Catholic 3% is Muslim 0.7% is Sikh 0.5% is Jewish 1% is Hindu others clam no religion. • Older women wear dresses younger women wear trousers men wear the same as U.S. men. In Northern Ireland men were kilts. • British English is the main language. Welsh in the official language of Wales. Polish is the third most spoken language in the UK. In Ireland they speak Gaelic • Their art is mostly plays famous artist are William Shakespeare, Charles Dickens, Dylan Thomas, J.K Rowling. • Folk music is the most popular other music is British rock and the Beatles. • Holidays there are Easter Monday, Boxing Day, New Years Day, Good Friday, the Queen’s birthday and others. Essential question answer-life is very interesting in the United Kingdom. Their food is follows the traditions of the British Isles. There are several festivals throughout the year. The United Kingdom is the home to such literary stars like Charles Dickens, William Shakespeare, and J.R. Tolkien.

  5. Recent Events • U.K will be trying to get back to the area were they ounce were with the economy. • This year with the summer Olympics and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, they were very busy and spent a lot of money on both events. But since people traveled all over the world and they spend money there u.k gets a lot of money off them. • The Queen had a health problem that scared people in U.K. this doesn’t really affect the U.S. • Essential question answer this has made U.K have less money than before because both events cost probably millions of dollars and we might have had to help in some way.
