  1. The Safeness of Nuclear Engergy By Nic Calacino

  2. The Ultimate Discovery • Nuclear energy was discovered during the finals days of World War 2 with the development of Atomic Weapons • Russians began experimenting shortly after to harvest energy • United States followed suit

  3. Early Development • President Eisenhower developed the “Atoms for Peace Program in 1953 • This discovery also lead to the beginning of the Cold War.

  4. Modern Fears and Facts • Many people are against Nuclear Energy due to environmental impact • In fact, Nuclear Energy is one of the cleanest sources of energy • This is because it is a Carbon Free energy source • Contrary to popular belief, the white plumes of smoke are just that, smoke.

  5. Energy Production • Nuclear Energy produces more energy than wind and solar power combined • Since Germany began disassembling their nuclear program, an installation of 5,000 wind turbines of the coast and many millions of solar panels will have to be installed to make up for the 1/5 of the countries energy • This will also cost Germany $720 Billion

  6. Storage • Being that many countries have began shutting down their nuclear power plants, it is needed to be stored. • Germany and Holland gave all their plutonium to Britain, which stores it all under lock and key with 24-hour surveillance as well as armed security

  7. Operation • Despite nuclear disasters and popular belief, nuclear energy does work • In 2013, the nuclear power plants around the United States were tested and recorded • Of those plants, 92 out the 100 operated at above 90%

  8. Industrial Strength Energy • As mentioned earlier, Germany’s Nuclear Power accounted for 1/5 of the country’s energy • This shows how Nuclear Energy works on an industrial scale as opposed to solar and wind which need a considerably larger amount of solar panels and wind turbines

  9. Secured Safety • With advances in technology, Nuclear Energy is getting safer and safer to use and maintain.
