  2. WWW.WIKISPACES.COM • ~Easy to create, access and use • ~Go to: www.wikispaces.com and click to sign up as a TEACHER

  3. I suggest that you create a WIKISPACE for ONE class period: All “Permission” types are FREE for educators; I use “Protected” so parents and other students can view student work.

  4. Now your students can go to the page and click to “join” this wiki in order to be a member. As the ‘creator’ of the wiki, you must approve each member.(You can give approval if you’re signed in to the wiki.) EXAMPLES: http://smcdeu2.wikispaces.com/Karly http://smcdeu2.wikispaces.com/JUGENDHERBERGEN (this page created to collect all student projects from one assignment) Then a new PAGE is created by each student, where each can post assignments, links, ppts, widgets and more.

  5. To EDIT any page, click EDIT at top right side, then use tools: Click “LINK” to insert a hyperlink to another page, web address, or email. “Link text” is just a label for the link. Remember to hit SAVE when finished! Click “FILE” to upload a doc, ppt, photo, etc. Click “upload files” to browse for content on your computer. (Click ‘external image’ on left for other sources.) See next page for “WIDGETS”.

Adding a WIDGET – a small application that can be installed in a web page: RIGHT click on youtube video: To add something like a Prezi, Voki, or youtube video, look for a key words like “share/embed/post”. 1. Double click on the 'embed code' so that it's highlighted &COPY (can use 'control + C")2.Open a new tab for your class wikispace , SIGN IN and click on the PAGE you need. IMPT: Click EDIT and place the cursor where you want to add the widget. 3. Click "widget" at the top of the faded page. Another frame opens.4. Click ONCE on "OTHER HTML" (bottom left side) and PASTE your embed code into the box. (Can also choose other options)5. Click SAVE on this page, then SAVE AGAIN at the top of the wikispace page.6. You should now have successfully embedded a widget on your wiki!

If you want, you can CREATE your own page and add content from your class presentation.

  8. www.quizlet.com Great for FLASHCARDS--memory work--spelling practice--pronunciation practice—etc.! EVERY subject area has ready-made flashcards available and accessible to all—use for a sub plan if you book the computer lab! Students can (but don’t have to) create their own usernames to compete in games and in order to create their OWN flashcard sets.
