  2. If we didn’t have inventions… If we didn’t have inventions then we would not have paper, eye glasses, or even fireworks on the Fourth of July!!

  3. So how did the Chinese people invent paper, glasses, and fireworks??!! • Before paper was invented, the Chinese kept records on strips of bamboo, but they stopped this because it took up too much room. Instead, they decided to mix together a mushy mixture of mulberry bark, hemp, rags, and an old fish net. And that’s how they made paper. • When eye glasses were first invented they were kept in place with weights that hung down behind their ears. Sunglasses were made by using tinted glass and were first worn by Chinese judges. • There is a legend that fireworks were discovered by accident by a Chinese cook who burned some chemicals in the kitchen. The Chinese people celebrate this invention on April 18th. They also light fireworks on Chinese New Year and other happy occasions!

  4. Foods Invented in China I would really miss eating pasta and ice cream, wouldn't you?

Later, they developed a way to waterproof their umbrellas so that they can use it when it rains. They did this by waxing the paper. • The oldest kite was used by the Chinese soldiers in the military as a way to signal their troops. They were brightly colored and carried messages with special codes. Later, they made kites for children by adding silk prints and tails to help kids balance them and fly them on windy days.

  8. The Compass The compass is important because it helps us tell directions.

  9. Games • Dominoes is a game still played by many kids today! • The Razor scooter is a popular scooter used all around the world!!

  10. So how did the Chinese people invent the compass, dominoes and the razor scooter??!! *The compass was first made out of a special kind of stone that was magnetic & showed direction in the ocean. *The dominoes were originally carved from ivory and bone. Chinese dominoes are longer than ours. Chinese people first made them to represent all the different throws of a dice. They used to call them dotted cards. *The Razor Scooter was invented by a team of people from China who worked for a company who sells bicycle parts & electric scooters.
