Automated Testing Plan(Overview) • The SPEAR control system has access to a large number of “test points” and status information of the BCS Top-Off Interlock. • All outputs of the summary chassis • Output status of all threshold detectors • The SPEAR control system controls all power supplies and monitors the SPEAR beam current. Automated Testing Plan(Power Supply Verification) • The control system • Gets updated readbacks somewhat faster than every second • Ramps the individual supplies with a slope that allows measurement of voltage and current within the required precision • Verifies the measured trip currents and voltages against correct trip values • Verifies the status changes on the summary chassis for the individual power supply thresholds • Maintains the correct trip levels in a database SSRL BCS Top-Off Review February 15th, 2008

Automated Testing Plan(TOSCI Verification) • The control system • Monitors the beam current during every fill from zero • Verifies the TOSCI chassis by comparing the measured DCCT beam current at the TOSCI state change times with the correct current value • maintains the correct trip levels in a database SSRL BCS Top-Off Review February 15th, 2008

Automated Testing Plan(Reporting and Actions) • The control system will generate a printed report for each verification (e-mails can also be sent) • In case of detected anomalies (non-functioning signal chains or threshold deviations), the control system will apply a fault to the summary chassis and will NOT allow a summary chassis reset.
