Embedded or external connectivity: a solution adapted for each service range

Critical services (eg. Ecall) requires highly integrated solutions

While « Consumer Electronics » and automotive lifecycles remain incompatible

  • In 5 years, available bandwidth on mobile phone was multiplied x200 (GPRS -> HSDPA)

  • While hardware prices where divided by 4

“Core telematics” : embedded connectivity

Infotainment : mobile device connectivity

Challenge opportunity create more value through industry collaboration
Challenge/Opportunity : create more value through industry collaboration.

Fully embedded: application intelligence & connectivity are integrated in the car

Mobile as a modem: application intelligence integrated in the car & connectivity is brought by customer

Smart mobile integration: car application intelligence & connectivity are linked (ex : trough a craddle)

Need for standards

Fully autonomous: application intelligence & connectivity are brought by customer
