  2. Demonstrative adjectives are words that describe where certain nouns are located in relation to the person speaking and the person listening.

  3. These are used when the noun is closer to the speaker: Often indicated by the word…..aquí (here) este (this) estos (these) esta (this) estas (these)

  4. These are used when the noun is closer to the listener: Often indicated by the word…..allí (there) ese (that) esos (those) esa (that) esas (those)

  5. What can help us remember the demonstrative adjectives • THIS AND THESE HAVE T’S ESTE ESTA ESTOS ESTAS THAT AND THOSE DON’T ESE ESA ESOS ESAS

  6. These are used when the noun is away from both speaker and listener: Often indicated by the word…..allá (over there) aquel (that) aquellos (those) aquella (that) aquellas (those)

  9. Demonstrative Pronouns These use the same forms, alone, without the noun. They are sometimes accentuated: éste (this one) ése (that one) áquel (that one)

  14. Unknown Objects.... • Esto, eso, aquello are used with an unidentified object. ¿Qué es esto? What is this? ¿Por qué quieres eso? Why do you want that?

Práctica • I like this shirt, but not that shirt. • We like this skirt, but not that skirt. • He likes this T- shirt, but not that skirt over there. • I prefer this dress more that that dress. • Juana prefers that dress more that that one over there. • Do you like these shoes or those? • I want these sandals but not those shoes. • This cap costs $20.00, but those caps cost $120.00. • I prefer these, not those (calcetines) • What is that over there?
