  1. Different Chordate By: Popeye Bui

  2. Tuartaras: Turtle Eastern Box Turtle

  3. Tuataras: Turtles • Body systems: Cardiovascular system has three chambered hear (Ventricle in only partially divided) • Digestive system: Unlike other amphibians they do not have mucous glands but do have salivary glands )meaning turtles eats there food in whole or in chunks). The muscles contracts and pushes food down the esophagus and intestines and move to the stomach

  4. Tuataras: Turtle (continued) • Reproduction: Turtles fertilize is internal for all turtles. All turtles lay eggs on land (some turtles use the same nesting spot for year after years) Female turtle can lay up to 400 eggs. • Nervous System: The central most important part of the turtle's nervous system is vertebrate, brain and the spinal chord. The brain has number of paired swellings which make up for the olfactory sacs, the olfactory bulb, cerebral hemisphere and optic lobes.

  5. Birds Blue Jay (Cyanocittacristata)

  6. Birds • Body Systems: The bird has a four-chambered heart, but it is larger and more muscular than that of a mammal of comparable size. As a result, the circulation is more rapid and the blood pressure is higher than in most vertebrates • Digestive System: The food taken into the mouth is swallowed and passes through the oesophagus into the stomach, assisted in its descent by the secretions of the salivary and mucous glands.

  7. Birds (Continued) • Reproduction: domesticated birds like chickens and ducks regularly lay eggs without receiving sperm from the male. But usually birds lay eggs with the sperm from the male. After the egg is hatched the bird will take care of the young. • Nervous System: Birds have a three part brain composed of a section for olfaction, optics, and hearing. Birds eye are usually large. Birds can hear much better than humans.

  8. Difference between Birds and Turtles • Birds have wings and have flight. While Turtles have solid bones and travel on land or in water. • Birds are warm blooded (endothermic). Turtles are cold blooded (endothermic). • Birds have feathers and Turtles have dry skin with scale • Birds have a four chambered heart. Turtles have three chambered hearts.
