IQSS Team Progress Report: NASA Tournament LabReporting Period: July-August 2013 • FY 2014 Team Goals • Modify contract with NASA to include additional TopCoder work to Year 4 (10/2013 - 9/2014) • Staff changes: Hire Visiting Scholar to fill Research Scientist position • Transition to Broad Agency Announcement agreement with NASA • Secure Funding: Partner with NYU for MacArthur Grant • Academic: Evaluate and analyze results for various projects and experiments from FY13 • Contests: Continually Develop and Run Software, Algorithm, and Studio Contests for NASA with TopCoder, Inc. • Business Development: Continue to find new partnerships with other federal government agencies with NASA’s Center of Excellence for Collaborative Innovation • Reporting Period Updates: • ISS FIT app – near deployment; likely October • ISS Robonaut, USAID Atrocity Prevention Algorithm Challenge, CMS Provider Enrollment, Environment Protection Agency’s mobile app & OPM Retirement Calculator challenges are on-going • National Geographic’s Collective Minds and Machines (Image Machine Learning) Challenge, QuakeFinder Algorithm Challenge, & in development • “ISS LongeronShadowing Challenge” paper is being drafted • COECI/NTL Yearly Conference run by Harvard/NASA had 90+ attendees in Washington, D.C. • Open issues, questions, or needs • NASA’s latest MOD to increase contract ceiling for TopCoder is in signature cycle • Metrics and/or attachments • N/A for this period
