  1. Status of HiLumi Lucio Rossi HiLumi LHC Project Coordinator – CERN HiLumi/LARP Collaboration Meeting CERN, 16 November

  2. Refining of the path and goals LRossi-16Nov2011

  3. Refining of the path and goals LS3 LRossi-16Nov2011

  4. First HL-LHC LIU meeting (June 2011) What we need as minimum in operative condition What LIU is aiming to: L4, PSB 2GeV, SPS up e-cloud suppression + … 25 ns: not that far: 15% more bunch population: but probably 30% needed 50 ns: is far, HL-LHC brightnessrequestmaybe out of reach, but…. LRossi-16Nov2011

  5. Tuning of the goal aftersummer Efficiency is defined as the ratio between the annual luminosity target of 250 fb-1 over the potential luminosity that can be reached with an ideal cycle run time with no stop for 150 days: trun= tlev+tdec+tturn. The turnaround time after a beam dump is taken as 5 hours, tdecay is 3 h while tlev depends on the total beam current LRossi-16Nov2011

  6. Cycle in the HL-LHC run 20E+34 pile up heatdeposition in IR and DS other? Levelling LRossi-16Nov2011

  7. Our Final Goal: 2000? – 3000? LRossi-16Nov2011

  8. Many changes : (IR Col, Cold Pw., Cryo for P4 and for P1-P5 not shown) LRossi-16Nov2011

  9. The HL composition DS collimation shifted in 2018 11 T is in baseline (if works) SC links gets support fromvariouscolaborations Matching section and correctors Collimation Project High Field Magnets R&D Beam Diagnostics HE-LHC Studies Study on HE-LHC getswider support EuCARD2 WP on HTS dipoles Hardware Commissioning LRossi-16Nov2011

  10. Status of the FP7 DS Grant Agreement signed by EU in October and now by all Beneficiaries First tranche of money (60% of the 4.9 M€) from EU has arrived to CERN, for redistribution(changedat a bad rate – for CERN ) Consortium Agreement almostready The US labs has not accepted the conditions LRossi-16Nov2011

  11. Staff for HiLumi LHC (EU FP7) LRossi-16Nov2011

  12. Staff HiLumiwith 377 p-m by US Labs 163 FTE-y LRossi-16Nov2011

  13. Werely on USA not only as «man-power»: intellectual contribution and skill are critical • And manyother contributions: • Collimation, e-lenses • Wires • Beam diagnostics… • AP ! http://hilumilhc.web.cern.ch/HiLumiLHC/ LRossi-16Nov2011

  14. HL-LHC and USA Necessity to find a way to formalize the collaboration for the Design Study Necessity to formalize the intention of a long term contribution To provide «in kind» by 2020: a plan and agreement isneedednow. Must beincludedalso the 11 T, the CC and Collimation + … Howeverwefullyinclude US labs to ourgovernance: 6 US members in the CB of HL-LHC of Thurday 17 Nov (5 labs + DOE), withformally no vote on FP7 HiLumi LHC «internalbusinness».
