  3. Step 2 Expression of Interest forms Brighton Primary Italian/Art tour 2008. (Expressions of interest) We are currently in the process of organizing and planning for our next Italian/Art tour for 2008. All studentswho will be in grades 5 and 6 in 2008 are eligible to apply. I am interested in finding out more information about the Italian/Art tour and wish to attend the information evening in the first term of 2008 Parent/Guardian names:_____________________________________________ Students name:______________________________________ Gr.____________ Please return to school ASAP Nunzia Esposito LOTE (Italian teacher)

Step 4 Organise all documents • Aims of the Tour: • To have a group of Brighton Primary School students experience first hand Italian language and culture. • To develop the students’ communication skills in Italian for a range of purposes and in a range of contexts. • To put Italian language into context, creating memories and an appreciation for learning Italian. • To establish a cultural, language exchange with children in an Italian school. • To develop the students’ understanding that the Arts evolve within a particular social and cultural contexts by studying the Arts of a different culture and a different historical period. • To develop the confidence and the ability to cope with an environment differing from that at home. • To develop the PYP profiles of being risk takers, knowledgeable, inquirers, caring and opened minded learners • Student Criteria • Demonstrates the ability to show responsibility and maturity to cope with being away from home. • Demonstrates an interest in the Italian language and the cultural aspects of Italy, including the arts. • Demonstrates the ability to cooperate with peers and adults to be part of a group • Demonstrates the ability to have the confidence to attempt to communicate in a foreign language. • Demonstrates the ability to confidently express themselves in front of an audience when reporting back to the school community. • Students will be expected to adhere to the B.P.S code of conduct throughout the tour. • time line • student contract • Application • Approx costs

  6. Step 5 Meet with interested parents • Have travel agent present and Principal • Present power point of all information gathered • Give out application forms and set a deadline

  7. Step 6 Applications • Make a decision on how many students you can take considering 1 teacher/adult to 5 students is the legal requirement and no matter how little the group you need at least 2 teachers for an emergency situation. • If you get more students go through an interview process

  8. Step 7 Set first meeting with successful applicants and parents • Give out forms • Passports (no less than 6 months to expire) • Payment time line (Usually in 3 instalments)

Step 8 • Make sure you meet with parents at least 2 more times before leaving • Collect all forms which are legally required by the school • 1.Indemity form • 2 excursion medical form • Traveller information form • Insurance forms • Medical examination form ( required 2 weeks before departure) • Discuss and implement an emergency plan ( this can be done with the travel agent) • Parent contacts (only to be contacted by email and via principal when overseas) • Organise gifts for visiting schools • Packing list

  10. Step 9 • Departure • Meet at school and all leave for the airport together • Get to the airport at least 2-3 hours before • Get the students through the departure process quickly don’t have parents and students waiting around together too long • Bon viaggio !!!!!!!
