  4. Planning for the Future • Prepare for BAIRS • Scenario planning based on several possible timelines • Determining parts of the collection to move to BAIRS • Preparing the collection for BAIRS

  5. Creating New Services • Launch document delivery service • Limited rollout of book delivery service – Fall 2006 • Future plans • Campus-wide book delivery for faculty • Electronic delivery of articles from Baylor collections

  6. Improving Current Services • Improve interlibrary request processing time and fill rate

  7. Enriching Staff Work • Bring together people who will be working together • Improve workflow and training • Automate routine tasks • Provide interesting work for staff in underutilized positions

  8. Improving Stewardship of Resources • Share staff between Circulation/Reserves and Interlibrary Services • Share expensive scanning equipment between Reserves and Interlibrary Services • Staff Reference services efficiently • Arrange CSD staff based on services, not legacy print collections

The Changes… • Organizational Changes: • New responsibilities • BAIRS planning – Linda Cobbs • Other responsibility changes – after looking at procedures and workflow • Creation of Access Services Unit • Merger of Circulation and Interlibrary Services • Access Services unit leader – Ken Carriveau • All reporting lines remain the same, except those who have reported to Linda will now report to Ken

The Changes… • Collection Moves: • Moving to Jones 1st • Science reference collection • Government documents reference collection • Government documents microforms and maps • 2/3 of government documents print collection • Remaining 1/3 of government documents collection weeded per FDLP guidelines or moved to cage • Moving to Moody Garden Level • General collection Z’s • Zeta’s • Moving to General Collection • Materials no longer needed for the Reference Collection can be moved into the General Collection

The Changes… • People Moves: • Preservation unit to Government Documents area (including microform/map room) • Government Documents and Science & Engineering personnel to Interlibrary Services area and Jeff’s office • Jeff, Linda, and Ken to Library Advancement area • Sarah to Linda’s office • Lib Advancement to Science & Engineering area
