  10. NO to Hypocritical Judgment (vv. 1-5). • Don’t judge – don’t be judgmental • Don’t take the place of God in passing judgment on others. • Don’t make definite conclusions about another’s motives and attitudes based on observed behavior or actions.

  11. NO to Hypocritical Judgment (vv. 1-5). • Don’t judge – don’t be judgmental • Only God can see the heart! • Only God has all the facts! • One can do a good thing with a bad motive! • One can fail in doing a good thing with a good motive!

  13. NO to Hypocritical Judgment (vv. 1-5). • We shall be judged (v.1) “Do not judge, or you too will be judged.” • There is a final judgment. • We still sin.

  15. NO to Hypocritical Judgment (vv. 1-5). • We cannot judge with bad ‘eyes’ (v.3-5)

  16. NO to Hypocritical Judgment (vv. 1-5). • King David (II Samuel 12:1-9) “David burned with anger against the man and said to Nathan, "As surely as the LORD lives, the man who did this deserves to die!” (v. 5) “Then Nathan said to David, "You are the man!” (v. 7)

  17. NO to Hypocritical Judgment (vv. 1-5). “If we know there are sins in our lives, and we try to help others, we are hypocrites...It is possible for ministry to be a device to cover up sin!” (Warren Wiersbe)

  18. YES! toPerceptive Judgment (vv. 6-12)

  19. YES to Perceptive Judgment (vv. 6-12). “You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye.” (v. 5)

  20. YES to Perceptive Judgment (vv. 6-12). • Begin with self-examination • Shallow self-examination • Perpetual self-examination

  21. YES to Perceptive Judgment (vv. 6-12). • We have a sacred duty (v.6) “Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and then turn and tear you to pieces.”

  22. YES to Perceptive Judgment (vv. 6-12). • We have a sacred duty (v.6) “If anyone will not welcome you or listen to your words, shake the dust off your feet when you leave that home or town.” (Matthew 10:14)

  23. YES to Perceptive Judgment (vv. 6-12). • Paul refused to argue with people who resisted the Word (Acts 13:44-49) • Jesus refused to answer Herod who just wanted to see miracles (Luke 23:9)

  25. YES to Perceptive Judgment (vv. 6-12). • We have a sacred duty (v.6) “Brothers, if someone is caught in a sin, you who are spiritual should restore him gently. But watch yourself, or you also may be tempted.” (Galatians 6:1)

  26. YES to Perceptive Judgment (vv. 6-12). • We have the source of discernment (vv. 7-11) “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.”

  27. YES to Perceptive Judgment (vv. 6-12). • We have a guiding principle (v. 12) “So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.”

  28. “The person who practices the Golden Rule refuses to say or do anything that would harm himself or others. If our judging of others is not governed by this principle, we will become proud and critical, and our own spiritual character will degenerate.” (Warren Wiersbe)

  29. I want others to... Forgive me Accept me for who I am Appreciate my strengths Understand my weaknesses Help me in my time of need Respect me Be kind and gentle to me
