  3. Turn to the person next to you… • …share one thing that has changed in education in the past… • 10 years • 20 years • 30 years • 40 years • …have outcomes for students with disabilities improved over the last 39 years?

  4. Special Education is A SERVICEnot A PLACE.

  5. Inclusive Practices • Providing the type and level of targeted support a student needs in order for him/her to be successful in the general education curriculum and to meet higher expectations • Ensuring a continuum of support and services is available to all students

  8. 39 years and still going… • Why are positive outcomes for students with disabilities still not being fully realized? • Why is “inclusion” not standard operational practice in all schools? • Why are many schools not implementing more inclusive practices?
