Process Mining • Process mining involves extraction of knowledge from event logs of transactional processing systems like ERP, CRM, SCM… • Objective: • To help in suggesting alternative ways of working (process redesign) • Can be used to compare between expected process model and the actual process model. The purpose is to discover discrepancies to improve the process according to expectations

  3. Perspectives of mining • Process perspective (How) For example in terms of petri-nets, EPC to provide a good characterization of process flow • Organizational perspective (Who) Identifying people involved in process and how they interact with process and each other • Case perspective (What) For characterizing cases and case types (their path, values and their originators)
