  2. What is Earth Day? • Earth Day is a day for people to protect the earth’s environment…all the baby animals and plants • The first Earth Day, in 1970, focused on ecology, respecting life on Earth, and raising awareness of different types of pollution (soil, air, and water)

  3. What is Ecology? • Ecology is how animals and plants, the weather, and people interact, or work together • (Daisies) Who has learned about farm animals? What are some animals? • (Brownies) Who has learned about different animals that live in the ocean? What are some of those animals?

  4. What is Pollution? • Pollution is anything on the land, in the water, or in the air that is harmful. • Can somebody give me an example of pollution? (Daisies) • Can somebody give me an example of soil pollution (land), water pollution, and air pollution? (Brownies)

  5. Activities for Earth Day • Recycling Crayons with the Sun • Build a Fairy Garden • Pine Cone & Peanut Butter Bird Feeder • Plant a Garden! • PLAY OUTSIDE!!!!!!!!! • Cook Earth Day Recipes

  7. Girl Scout Oaths and Earth Day The purpose of Earth Day is to make the world a better place. As Girl Scouts, we should take part in Earth Day activities and tell people about it so we actually can make the world a better place (like we say in our Girl Scout Law)! • The Girl Scout Promise On my honor, I will try:To serve God and my country,To help people at all times,And to live by the Girl Scout Law. • The Girl Scout Law I will do my best to behonest and fair,friendly and helpful,considerate and caring,courageous and strong, andresponsible for what I say and do,and torespect myself and others,respect authority,use resources wisely,make the world a better place, andbe a sister to every Girl Scout.
