Textbooks vs Online Books • Are libraries as important as online access? • Online textbooks are cheaper, easier to replace, more flexible • How does technology fit in with textbook landscape? • How can NAD best work to keep our schools outfitted with current, specifically-Adventist Curriculum?

  4. GoToMeeting • Initial experience has been successful • RECOMMEND to ADEC that they develop a podcast library to represent/support the different disciplines in the academy

Review of Technology Integration vs Infusion Online Workship • First time we have tried Gotomeeting as a vehicle for online education • Over 200 people were engaged our first time • Lot of interest shown by users as evidenced by emails and comments of people who were online • We can create a Podcast library of a wide variety of topics and subjects

Restructure of TDEC Website • Coordinate with Circle website (circle.adventist.org) through RSS feeds from our website to Circle • This with give teachers increased access to information, materials and resources that would aid them in improving their classrooms • RSS feeds would enable new information from TDEC to automatically post to participating school and conference websites

Visions Technology • Every school will create a “login Profile” which will consist of a specific username and password, shipping/mailing address information and school contact information • Once a “Login Profile” has been created, the school’s staff will simply go through the web site adding items to their “shopping Cart” and when it’s time to finalize the purchase, they will be allowed (as a part of the final “checkout” procedure) to enter the “Coupon Code” of SDA021JC in the coupon field and the 30% discount will be applied to their purchase. • If schools desire to use a purchase order (instead of ordering on-line), simply fax the purchase order (with all the details) to: (541) 459-0944

United Streaming • Name has been changed to DISCOVERY EDUCATION STREAMING • Current contract expires in May 2008 • New contract negotiated. • Retail price is $1595 per school • Our price is $5 per student with $250 school minimum • All orders must be done through NAD Office of Education.   14. Distance Education Policies • Voted to send to Union Directors an outline of proposal for developing a distance education program.

  15. COPPA • Recommendation to Union Directors • Understanding that COPPA is not legally mandated to private schools, TDEC still strongly recommends, as does OGC, that all Adventist schools follow the COPPA regulations and include a privacy statement on their website.

  17. NAD Student Information Data Upload • While it is still encouraged for schools to integrate into school minder in time for August of 2008, the deadline is being extended until August of 2009 in order to allow the technology and teacher base to “catch up” with each other.

RenWeb • The President and founder of RenWeb met with TDEC and presented their company views and concerns. • Renweb did however state their willingness to work with NAD & Hunter and indicated they would program their SIS to migrate their data into Hunter if the NAD and Hunter meet their “requests.” • While desirous of being the “vendor of choice” RenWeb is comfortable if RenWeb could be identified as “compatible” with Hunter.

  20. Encyclopedia Britannica • Encyclopedia Britannica Online is FREE for all SDA schools thanks to the Union Directors financial support. • The login name is your school’s organization ID (same as the COGAT ID number) • Password is nadsa1 • The website is www.school.eb.com

Includes calendar, homework, grades, news, and many other features • We have a code for a Division–wide free test for the rest of the school year. • This will give you access to ALL features • Access code is: FF478ADVT • TDEC is negotiating for a national contract with this site.
