  1. Divisilbilty Rules Try these mental math techniques Have your ear phones/head phones ready!

  2. What does it mean to be divisible by a number ? Divisible means capable of being divided. Thus it is a term that refers to a number being divided into equal parts with no remainders. Every even number is divisible by two I f I have 8 cookies. I share them between myself and a friend. We each get 4 cookies. 8 is divisible by 2. It can be shared equally without breaking any cookies.

  3. What about larger numbers ? It is easy to tell if small numbers are divisible by 2. What about a large number like 5 612 ? I don’t have time to separate that into two groups? Look at the last digit. If the last digit is even , then the whole number is divisible by 2. So the last digit in 5 612 is a 2. 2 is divisible by 2 so the whole number 5 612 is divisible by 2.

  4. Don’t believe me … watch this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JHCynajsRG8&feature=related It will only talk about divisible by 2, don’t click on the virtual nerd videos. Please click on this link as well http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dGnqUAl_fNA&feature=related

  5. Try these questions below. Record your answers in your coil notebook, Which of these numbers are divisible by 2 ? 106 465 2198 215 1399 4530

  6. The divisibilty rule for 5 is … A number is divisible by 5 is it ends in zero or five. Count by fives. 5,10,15, 20, 25, 30 …. Do you notice the pattern ? The end numbers are 5,0,5,0,5,0 A number is divisible by five if it ends in 5 or 0. Click on the link below : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4U8du3w_iS4

  7. How do I know if a number is divisible by 10? Count by 10’s 0 , 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, etc. Did you notice that each ends in zero ? If a number ends in zero it is divisible by 10. What about 12 340 578 390 ? Doe it end in ten ? Then yes ! Click on the links below. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H1xgkemiX-Q&feature=relmfu http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tIuVoG0JDmg&feature=related

  8. Divisible by two or 5 or 10? Record your answers in your coil note book. Which numbers are divisible by two or five or ten or all. 78 27 35 410 123 2100 4126 795

  9. Sort these numbers in a venn diagram Draw 3 overlapping circles. Write the numbers which are divisible only by 2 in that circle, 5 and 10. If a number is divisible by 2 , 5, 10 then put it in the overlapping part. Do this in your coil note book. Use these numbers. 25 ,10, 212 ,5450,12 256, 380 15,8,0 2 5 10
