  2. What is a slope?

  3. Example 1 From textbook page 321 number 3 (part A)

  4. m= -2-7 5-(-2) add and subtract m= -9 7 rise -9 Answer: -9/7 run 7

  5. Example 2 From textbook page 322 number 29( part B)

  6. 29. A line contains (4,3) and (x,7). It has slope 2. Find x. Use the slope formula. 2 = 7-3 x-4 2 = 4 (x-4) subtract 4 = 4 (x-4) make the fraction same 2=x-4 solve the x out x=6 Answer: x=6

  7. Sometimes there will be some problems like Horizontal and Vertical Lines. Horizontal Line -any two points that have the same y-coordinate, the slope is 0.

  8. Vertical Line -any two points that have the same x-coordinate, that the slope have no slope.
