W: Hello, William. What are you doing tomorrow evening?

m: Tomorrow evening? Nothing special, I was thinking of watching TV.

W: Drag yourself away from television for a change. I’m having a few friends to have a dinner party tomorrow to celebrate my daughter’s birthday. How would you like to join us?

m: Great. That would be super. Congratulations!

W: Thank you. How about eight o’clock? Is that OK?

W: Yes, of course.

m: OK. Fine. Do you want me to bring something to drink? Red wine or white?

W: Um, white wine, if you feel you must bring something. But it’s not necessary.

m: I’ll do that. Well, indeed, thank you very much for inviting me.

W: My pleasure.

m: I’ll be along at eight. Looking forward to it.

C: What about Saturday? But I need to alert you that the coach will leave quite early at 7 o’clock.

S: I’ll ask Mr. Johnson if he has any plans, but I think it’ll be all right. Suppose I give you a ring this afternoon and let you know.

C: That would be fine.

Dear Mr. Luford,   Thank you for your letter of 24 June and I am pleased to confirm my participation in this year’s conference in August.   I would be grateful if you could send me further details about the program.   Unfortunately, I will not be able to give an update on last time’s talk. I am afraid that pressure of work will not allow time to prepare a talk.   However, I look forward to attending the conference again.   Yours sincerely,   H. Bool
