Purchasing New Instructional Programs and Equipment It is the responsibility of the Division of Curriculum & Instruction to ensure instructional practices are aligned to the Five-Year Educational Plan. Therefore, anytime you are going to purchase an instructional program, materials, or equipment that will alter the district approved curriculum, the following flowchart shall be followed: Inform the appropriate director with rationale for purchase and provide access to program and/or instructional materials. Using campus data and research informing best practice, indicate why this purchase is necessary and why current resources do not meet this need. A plan to implement and evaluate effectiveness should accompany the request. If the director says OK, then If the director has concerns, then If it is software or some form of technology, it must go to the CIO for approval with the specification sheet and a copy of theprogram or link to the website. Request for instructionalprogram goes toAssociate Superintendentfor Curriculum & Instruction. Go ahead and purchase the program. Discussion with the principal and director regarding rationale, data, research, and plan takes place. Continuation of the program will be completed dependentupon the evaluation of theeffectiveness. Final decision is made by Associate Superintendentfor Curriculum & Instruction. If yes, then **It is the principal’s responsibility to ensure the director has the materials for review. The director will get back with the principal within one week of the date he/she receives the materials.**
