  1. Parents Information Meeting Tuesday 10th September Kestrels’ Class

  2. Life in Kestrels • Team and attendance • Moving towards secondary school • Taking a leadership role • Spreading their wings

  3. Topic Overview Different subjects are taught through a central topic allowing children to transfer skills and make meaningful connections. Broad objectives are taken from the National Curriculum, but the detail of what we do is decided with the children so that the topic reflects their interests and enthusiasms. Our topic books tell the story of how each project is developing.

  4. Enlivened Learning We are using the following 5 principles to plan engaging learning experiences: • Build authenticity • Role model what good learners do • Allow ideas to shape collaboratively • Offer choice and trust • Provide novelty

  5. Learning Habits & Christian Values These ‘enlivened’ experiences give the children opportunities to become more and more: • Curious • Imaginative • Persistent • Collaborative • Disciplined

  6. Homework Spellings – set on Monday Reading – try to encourage recording 5 times a week Maths – Diagnostics – set on Friday https://diagnosticquestions.com/Account/Login Creative – as it seems relevant to our learning

  7. SATs In May, Year 6 will sit their SATs. This is something that the children are well prepared for and marks the beginning of the transition to their new schools.

  8. Questions & further information I will be in the playground at 8.40 every morning and also at the end of the day for short exchanges. Longer meetings can be arranged as necessary. Emails should go to office@danehill.e-sussex.sch.uk. Blog – please make sure you follow! Please let the Office know about changes to home arrangements. Any other questions?
