Welcome SHS!! • It is time to get your iPad!
IPad Program • The take home part of this program is optional. • We feel choosing not to participate will put your student at a disadvantage. • Students not participating will still have access to iPads at school. • Students that lose the privilege to use an iPad due to disciplinary action will still be required to complete all coursework.
iPad Policy and Guidelines • Please read and sign the iPad handbook. • iPads are property of Sturgis Public Schools. • Students are responsible for all content on their iPad. (there is no expectation of privacy) • When using video/camera you must have permission of those being videoed.
Cont... • Take care of your iPad! The iPad is to be in the school provided case at all times. • Students may not alter the iPad or case in any way. It is expected that the iPad is turned in in the same condition that it was received. • Bring your iPad charged and ready to go every day. • iPad use in the classroom is at the teachers discretion. • The cell phone/ technology guidelines in the student handbook also apply to the iPad. (please review)
Cont... • Each iPad cost $530, the case $32. • Purposely damaging or altering an iPad will result in the student/parent being responsible for the replacement cost. • The school carries insurance for accidental damage that has a $50 deductible. In the case of accidental damage, $50 is the maximum responsibility for the student/parent. • REPORT LOST, STOLEN, OR DAMAGED IPADS TO SCHOOL PERSONNEL IMMEDIATELY. • There is limited storage space on the iPad. • Students may download personal apps/music/etc. • Students may NOT delete SPS purchased apps, management tools, software, etc. • Students must delete personal apps/music/data when memory is full.
Security • Every iPad is GPS tracked and Apple has the ability to track the device by serial number. • Students should set a lock screen image that quickly identifies the iPad as theirs. • There are parental controls on the iPad. (please see the help center after the sessions to help set this up) • Use the "browser app" for Internet access at home.(this is fully filtered)
IPad Distribution • iPads will be distributed to students of SHS, with parent permission. • iPads will be returned to SHS at the end of the school year. (there may be an option to keep the iPad over the summer, at a cost) • Students leaving SHS during the school year are expected to turn in their iPad or face possible legal action. • Any student not turning in their iPad at the end of the year could face fines, disciplinary and/or legal action.
Get your iPad! • Proceed to stage with SIGNED iPad handbook. • Find station with letter of your last name. • Hand in signed handbook sheet and get your iPad!! • Exit LGI room front left. • Proceed to English hall to rooms with purpleMDM signs. (orangeapple ID rooms if you don't have an apple ID) • Proceed to Social Studies hall with greenset-up signs. • Once finished in the green rooms you are free to leave. YOU ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND ALL THREE SESSIONS TO ACTIVATE YOUR IPAD. • You will need to check out with a staff member in the social studies hallway on the way out of the building to complete the process. • There is a HELP CENTER set up in the media center if you have questions after attending all three sessions.
