  • Objective: AM triacylGlycerol + MM protein  HM glucose
  • Unique reactions:
    • Gene expression: 27 obese, 40 diabetic
    • Multi-tissue model: 29 obese, 94 diabetic
    • Expression FP: 39 of 67
  • Differences mainly in AM

  • Diabetic AM:
    • [deminished insulin response] 
    • carnitine shuttle and FA oxidation 
    • Elevated free FA, lactate 
    • HM gluconeogenesis  hyperglycemia
  • Diabetic catalase is inactive  causes oxidative damage to tissues
  • Diabetic cysteinedeoxygenase is inactive (breaks down excess cysteine to pyruvate and taurine)
