THE CHALLENGE OF “FINISHING THE TASK” Who Isn’t Being Reached? CALL2ALL CONGRESS
THE CALL2ALL OBJECTIVE To Find Out Where the Church is NOT And Decide What We Are Going to do About It
THE BIBLICAL PROMISES The Gospel Will be Preached Everywhere “This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come.”Matthew 24:14
All Peoples Will Hear “After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count; from every nation, tribe, people and language…”Revelation 7:9
THE DEFINITIONS 1974 People-Group Thinking Introduced by Ralph Winter
Recent Refinements Now Center on UNENGAGED, Unreached People Groups
What are UNENGAGED Groups? • Answer: • Groups without Access to the Gospel • Characteristics: • No Scripture • No Missionary • No Church • No Known Believers
THE PROGRESS IN REACHING GROUPS SINCE 1974 12,000 Ethnolinguistic Groups - 6,000 “Reached” – 2% Believers 6,000 -3,000Church Planting Currently Underway 3,000 Unengaged Groups STILL UNREACHED How much longer will we wait?
THE GLOBAL CHALLENGE Million People in Groups Without Access to the Gospel 254
Why Haven’t These Groups Been Reached? • They are in the most remote, difficult places • Heavy opposition from non-Christian radicals
Why Haven’t These Groups Been Reached? • Mission boards have no more people to send • Nobody willing to try
Why Haven’t These Groups Been Reached? • No awareness • Fear of failure • Assumption that someone else will do it SO WHAT DO WE NEED TO DO?
A NEW PERSPECTIVE #1 -- We Need to Repent
#2 – We Need a New Vision With Eyes of Faith “Faith is being sure of what we hope for, and certain of what we do not see.” Hebrews 11:1 “Without faith, it is impossible to please God.” Hebrews 11:6
We usually say,“I’ve got to see it to believe it.” We need to say,“I’ve got to believe it to see it.”
#3 -- We Need God’s Solution Moses would never have led the children out of Egypt if he had had to solve the problem of the Red Sea first.
It is our job to make the decision. It is God’s job to solve the problem.
#4 – Don’t limit your vision to what you can humanly accomplish
#5 -- We Need to Anticipate Opposition
