  1. Lee Affirms Willingness to Join PSI Harin Lee

  2. WHO? • North Korea • South Korea • USA • The members of PSI (Proliferation Security Initiative)

  3. WHAT? • Lee Myung-Bak (our president) decides to be affiliated with the PSI • However, he doesn’t want to be a member because he thinks that will anger NK • (NK said that if SK makes a membership they’ll declare war) • Reaffirmed “Seoul’s willingness to fully join a US-led initiative to curb the spread of WMD” • WMD = Weapons of Mass Destruction

  4. Wait… what? • A day after NK’s missile test, Lee promises a stern and firm approach to the incident • However, doors are still open for negotiation • Still SK will check all the ships for any signs of WMD’s even though it’s been happening since 2003

  5. WHERE? • North Korea • South Korea

  6. WHEN? • Lee Myung-Bak’s decision: • April 7, 2009 • Missile launch: • April 5, 2009

  7. WHY? • Well, I live in the country right next to the one that launched the rocket • Brings a lot of apprehensive feelings to the population, which of course permeates through almost anyone, one way or another • It brings back the armistice issues we’re having ever since it started

  8. WHY continued • It connects directly to any armistice we’ve learnt so far, particularly the one that ended WWI • Indicative of a nation practicing its military power (much like Hitler did)

  9. HOW? • I feel like NK is making threats that they really shouldn’t make • They made a missile that… failed • They constantly trying to prove points and for what…
