Kenan Fellows Program Benefits to Region • Incentive for best teachers to remain in the classroom • Strengthens and emphasizes Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics curriculum • Improves connections between public school instruction and cutting edge research and current technology

KF Program Proposal • Initially start with 5-6 counties at $5,000/county/year to fund cost of a part time Kenan Fellows (KF) coordinator • Hire part time KF Coordinator by Jan 1, 2009 @ $25,000 • KF Coordinator identifies/solicits funding from public sponsors at a cost of $12,500 annually for each Kenan Fellow • Select up to 12 Fellows to start program in June 2009 - max of two KF from each county • Obtain funding from remaining counties ($5,000/yr) to expand duties of KF coordinator & increase fellowships • Identify and solicit funding from sponsors for other candidates from counties that did not participate during the first year
