NQF – in a national perspective • The aim is a student centred learning environment • LO is a tool to help curriculum design and to facilitate comparability • Importance of a national debate on an appropriate National Qualifications Framework • Ensure that qualifications frameworks fulfill their aims and are not just ‘nice pieces of paper’? • Ensure stakeholder participation and ownership NQF is a tool to be used for recognition of learning

Implementing of NQF • All kinds of qualifications must be in the NQF • Providers outside the official educational system are invited to add their qualifications • NQF will be developed step by step in close collaboration with the interest from society • There must be a transparent relation between NQF and EQF

  4. Ensuring coherence in the education system Responsibility of governments: • Reconsider, and if necessary reconfigure national education systems • Finalise national qualifications frameworks under full participation of stakeholders

  5. Qualification descriptors • Scope: the exact number of credits a qualification is attributed; • Qualitative targets: the knowledge and understanding, skills and abilities, and judgement and approach a student is able to demonstrate for a given qualification; • Requirements for the independent degree project • Other: in addition to the qualification descriptors, each HEI may specify particular requirements for each qualification.
