  4. Common Obstacles and Objections • Don’t want to burden students with more units • Discipline Faculty already overloaded • Discipline Faculty not qualified to teach content • Students familiar with computers & already able to find information • Others???

Is it worth the effort? • Longitudinal study @ Glendale CC (2000-2007) • ↑ GPA, Persistence & Cumulative units completed • Educational Testing Services Study (2006) • 6300 students took ICT Literacy Exam • 52% correctly judged objectivity of website • 65% correctly judged site’s authoritativeness • 40% entered multiple search terms to narrow results • Study @ University of IL (1995) • Reported reduced attrition • Kuh & Shouping (2003) study reported: • ↑ studious work ethic, engagement in academically challenging tasks that require higher order thinking skills
