  1. Our Adoption Journey By J.H. Batley

  2. Where the Journey Began It all started with my mother’s desire to adopt a child from a foreign country. After much thought and prayer, we decided to adopt from China knowing that there are many little girls there without any hope of a family to love them.

  3. Our Inspiration We were greatly influenced by contemporary Christian artist Steven Curtis Chapman and his family’s journey of adoption. We also have friends who have adopted children from China. “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.” – John 14:18

  4. Jiang Xiao Hua 姜小华 This is my soon to be little sister. We found her on a special needs waiting child list. This picture is actually the first we saw of her. Her Chinese name is Jiang Xiao Hua, and in English, this means “little flower.”

  5. We were told by our adoption agency that she has a congenital heart defect known as “VSD.” This means that there is a hole between the ventricles of her heart, and that she will need surgery to correct it.

  6. A New Start Now, a month later, they are telling us that she has had the surgery and is doing well. She will be hospitalized in China for a period of time before going back to her orphanage. “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29:11

  7. We have decided to name her Mya Grace Batley.

  8. Her Journey Home My parents hope to travel to China in September to bring her home.

  9. Adoption Offers Hope To The Hopeless!
