CC will impact hunger & malnutrition • + droughts, floods, hurricanes & other disasters; • + extreme weather events; • - agricultural productivity in already fragile areas; • - water availability in arid and semi arid regions; • + health and sanitation problems affecting malnutrition; • + increasing social tensions and rising conflicts over scarce resources (IPCC, 2007)

  10. In conclusion • CC is a risk multiplier/accelerator affecting global food security and hunger • Continuity - CC adaptation can build on DRR/EPR work • CC awareness reinforces the need for robust preparedness and CCA/DRR/EPR mainstreaming
