  2. Benefits of reviewing the Notice of Arrest: • Check the accuracy of submitted arrest information • Verify a person’s identity based on fingerprint comparison • Locate outstanding warrants or protection orders the individual may have

  3. When a law enforcement agency submitsa criminal arrest fingerprint card to the Washington State Patrol (WSP) the contributing agency is furnished with the individuals assigned state identification number (SID) after fingerprint identification of the individual

  4. Also, a wants and warrants check is performed to locate any warrants, protection orders and other records from the Washington Crime Information Center (WACIC) files • The notice of arrest may be furnished by e-mail or telecommunications system (ACCESS)

Sample Washington State-Notice of Arrest Header: states that this is the WSP, Noticeof Arrest Date: this is the date that Washington State Identification System (WASIS) was updated with this arrest information State Identification Number (SID): sequential number assigned to the first retainable set of fingerprints received by WSP (based on fingerprint comparison) Contributing Agency: agency the notice is directed to

Sample Washington State-Notice of Arrest Arrestee Name: all names reported on the subject Birthdate: all dates of birth reported on the subject FBI number: sequential number assigned to the individual by the FBI based on fingerprint comparison Transaction Control Number (TCN): unique number assigned to each fingerprint card submission. Process Control Number (PCN): unique tracking number linking the court information to the arrest offense

You may also recieve an FBI response • In addition to the NOA, if the contributing agency chooses to receive notification from The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the FBI number is furnished after fingerprint identification of the individual • This notification is furnished by e-mail or telecommunications system

  12. Sample FBI-Response Type of Transaction (TOT): In this example CAR = Criminal Arrest requesting an FBI response Date Transaction Initiated: Date information was received by the FBI Transaction Control Reference: Unique number assigned by the FBI to this event

  13. Sample FBI-Response Transaction Control Number: Unique number assigned by the state to this event FBI number, sequential number assigned to the first retainable set of fingerprints received by the FBI (based on fingerprint comparison) SID number: the first two letters designate the state

  14. Why is the State and FBI SID useful? • The state SID can be used to query additional criminal history information retained on the individual for the State of Washington • The FBI SID can be used to query additional criminal history information retained on the individual nationwide
