  8. Making viewers happy CASE, Volvo Youth Sailing, ISAF World Championship, Aarhus DK, 2008 Debbie McNeill 08:26 This is so awesome to watch, I have never seen anything like this before. It has apparently been tried in South Africa on keel boats, but never on dinghies. It is so exciting and makes you feel part of the regatta. My son does not seem so far from home he is only a click away. The replays are a very good training tool as it is a bird eye view, which adds a new perspective to teaching. Excellent allround. Well done Kevin Robertson 11:01 This is an amazing site. The only issue I have is that I stay up all night watching the racing. It is the best thing to happen to sailing since NZ won the Americas cup. My wife is away at the moment so I can sit in bed and watch all the races. If she was home I would have to be a good boy go to sleep and watch the replays in the morning which is never as good as watching live. Well done.

  9. Making more viewers happy Andre 13:04 I must admit this site is truly fantastic. The simple yet completely adequate graphics and intuitive interface are superb. I am a laser coach and this post race information would be hugely valuable to analyse the tactical options taken. Fredrik Strange 20:37 I\'m watching the races on a daily basis from a Mark Boat, - I really think that this tracking solution is VERY interesting. Hariet 05:46 I LOVE IT. Zoom in, speed up, slow down replay... a start gun signal would be a great addition. Great for the folks at home to see the action as it happens. Beats waiting for the results to be posted. Excellent training tool.

  10. Different sports – same challenge • Outside but – with live tracking - inside the view of the spectator • Marathon • Cross Country Skiing • Adventure racing and multi sport • Orienteering • Rowing, Canoe and Kayak – long distance formats • Cycling • Other sports covering large areas • Jens Cornelius Knudsen, Head Producer, TV2 Norway"The use of live tracking as a production tool during the Nordic Orienteering Championships was a key factor in TV2’s decision to engage in the production of orienteering. Tracking contributed to raising the quality of the production by giving the viewers a good overview of the route choices of the runners.”

  11. A way to make money • CASE, Orienteering, ’Tio-Mila’ relay event Sweden, 2008 • Big screen arena production (8000 participants and spectators) • Full TV-production setup • Live video-camera input from 6 cameras • On the fly graphics production • Live tracking of 20 favourite teams throughout the relay • Professional arena commentary and expert commentary • Web-cast of big screen production, Pay-per-View, micro-payments • 3622 paying viewers • Fee appr: 6,50 Euro (low prizing strategy) • in the first attempt

One technology – a world of opportunities • Presentation platforms – the center of attention • - Web, with possible integration of commentry, video, community • - TV-graphic input • - Arena production • 3'rd party presentation platforms • Spectators • - Webcast, edited/unedited • - On-site arena production, big screen, live commentary, arena build-up! • - TV, tracking integration with TV-production, real-time or post-edited • Attracts viewers – and therefore sponsors - excellent sponsor platform • Regatta or Club sponsors • The industry • Attracting sponsors who want to capitalise on the values of sailing.

  13. Many benefits for the organizer Race-management • Race Committee • - Online confirmation of course layout/sailmark placing • - Placing of replacement marks • - Online surveillance of development of race and of individual boats • Calculation of mark rounding times, finish order and times, starts, statistics • Jury • Post-evaluation of incidents • Press & Media • Better and more qualified service • Expert tools and predictions • direct linking to sailor merits
