Various Sucrose Bags • Label 3 plastic cups assigned to you. 0.2M Bag, 0.6M Bag, 1.0M Bag OR0.0M Bag, 0.4M Bag, 0.8M Bag • Prepare each bag • Tie a knot in one end of a bag • Add 20mL of sucrose solution • Leave room for expansion, and tie the other end • Mass the bag • Mass the cup • Zero the balance and add the bag • Record as initial mass • Add 1/3-cup of tap water to the cups only after ALL massing is done

Potato Cores in Unknown Sol’ns • Label 6 plastic cups R, O, Y, G, B, I. • Place 4 potato cores in EACH cup • Mass the cores (mass the cup, tare, add the cores, and record as initial mass) • Add 1/3-cup of appropriate solution color to the cups only after ALL massing is done • Cap the cups and run the experiment overnight

  4. Various Sucrose Bags • After the allotted time… • dump the solutions in the sink, • blot dry each cup and bag, • record the final mass of each bag, • calculate % change in mass (final-initial)/initial • Record your data online
